Aged Citizen Answers Final Call – One of Dassel's Oldest and Best Known Citizens Passes Away to His Final Rest Wednesday Night –

After a long and useful life of 73 years 60 months and 9 days, John Granath answered the final summons at his home in this village Tuesday last at 11:30 p.m. Death was due to a general breakdown resulting from old age, deceased having grown gradually more feeble the past year or so.

Deceased came to this country in 1882 and to Collinwood in 1896 where he operated a farm until 1909, when he purchased a home in this village in order to pass his declining years in peace and comfort after many years of active, energetic and fruitful labor upon the farm.

He was married in 1862 to Miss Louise Olafsdotter of Sweden. Four children were born to them who are as follows: Axel Granath of this vicinity, Mrs. F. Nelson of Butte, Mont., Mrs. Fred Walin of Minneapolis, and Mrs. A. Baker of Minneapolis, all except Mrs. Nelson attending the funeral. Six grandchildren also survive him.

Mr. Granath was one of the charter members of the Swedish Lutheran church and among its active workers. He was a man of fine character, strict honesty and integrity and loved by a host of friends.

The funeral took place Sunday from the Swedish Lutheran church, Rev. S. Anderson officiating. The interment took place in the Steelesville cemetery. The Anchor extends the hand of sympathy to the aged widow, family and relatives.
