Mrs. Lawrence (Ella) Johnson, 73, rural Dassel, died May 14 at the Meeker County Memorial Hospital, Litchfield.

Funeral services were conducted May 17 from the First Lutheran Church, Dassel with the Rev. Charles Humphrey, pastor of the church, officiating. Miss Dorothy Swanson and Mrs. Ted Bergquist were the vocalists, and Mrs. Lail Bergquist was the organist. A congregational hymn, "Children of the Heavenly Father," was sung.

Casket bearers were Russel Asplin, Roger Asplin, Myron Asplin, Todd Asplin, Steven Olson and Gary Cervin. Interment was at Steelesville Cemetery, rural Dassel.

Ella Marie Olson was born March 27, 1907, in Minneapolis, Minnesota. Her parents were Olof and Alice Olson. She moved with her family from Minneapolis to the Swan Lake community, northwest of Dassel, in 1910 where she resided until her marriage.

On Dec. 28, 1927, she was married to Lawrence Johnson at the parsonage of First Lutheran Church, Dassel. Since that time she had made her home in Collinwood Township, south of Dassel.

She had been employed for many years by the Dassel Public School as a school cook. She was an active member of the First Lutheran Church having served as a Sunday school teacher. She was also active in LCW and other women's organizations of the church. She was a member of the Home Circle Club of Dassel.

Survivors include her husband, Lawrence, Dassel; three daughters, Mrs. Glen (Helen) Fitzloff, Litchfield, Mrs. Donald (Betty) Maland, Montevideo, and Mrs. Mark (Mary) Crayford, Darwin; two sons, Allen of New Brighton, and Lee of Apple Valley; 11 grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; one brother, Harold Olson, Dassel; and one sister Mrs. Harlan (Lillian) Cervin, Darwin.

She was preceded in death by her parents, a son in infancy, a grandson, and one brother, Arnold Olson.
