Louise Lantto, 93

Louise Anna Marie Granath Lantto, age 93, passed away in her rural Dassel home kitchen, with family nearby, Friday, Nov. 19, 2021.

Louise was born Nov. 11, 1928, in Dassel, to Gottfried O. Granath and Mabel J. Larson.

After graduation from Dassel High School, Louise continued her education at Gustavus Adolphus College, The Minneapolis Institute of Art, Olivet College, and Syracuse University where she completed her bachelor of arts degree.

Years later, Louise also was given an honorary bachelor of arts degree from The Minneapolis Institute of Art.
Louise married Ernest S. Lantto Sept. 13, 1953, at GLC in Dassel. They lived in Fairborn, Ohio; St. Louis Park, MN; Leidschendam, The Netherlands; and Bad Godesberg, Germany before buying Louise’s childhood home in 1988.
Louise was an accomplished seamstress, a lifetime artist with a specialty in watercolor painting, and an avid book-lover that spanned from mysteries to history, religion, and archeology.

She loved to research topics, and had a special interest in Biblical archeology, attending many national Biblical archeology conferences.

Louise loved to converse on many topics. She loved animals, enjoyed traveling, cooking, and trying new things.
Louise is survived by her husband, Ernest Lantto; children, Orville of Chaska, Julia Hansen of New Hope, Eric of Manassas, VA, Samuel of Eden Prairie; 11 grandchildren, and four great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her daughter, Karen Willcox; parents, Gottfried and Mabel Granath (who passed away when Louise was 3 years old); and her brothers, John W., Severin O., and Marvin O. Granath.

A private family service and natural burial took place at the Steelesville Cemetery in Dassel Saturday, Nov. 20, 2021, for Louise Anna Marie Granath Lantto.
