Funeral services for Mathilda Johnson were held at the First Lutheran Church in Dassel on Tuesday. She died at Litchfield, Minnesota on Saturday, September 13, at the age of 92 years.
Mathilda Johnson was born in Collinwood township March 12, 1877. She was confirmed at the Stockholm Lutheran Church in 1892. She became a member of the First Lutheran Church in 1908, and at the time of her death was the oldest member of the church. Her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Swan Johnson, were charter members of the congregation at the time of its organization in 1873.
Miss Johnson had been a resident of the Dassel area all her life with the exception of the past 13 years when she had resided at the Emmaus Home in Litchfield.
The Rev. Dr. Walter E. Carlson officiated at the funeral services. Clarence W. Johnson was soloist and Mrs. Paul Osness, organist. Pallbearers were Albin Dahlman, Clifford Dahlman, Arthur Dahlman, Harvey Dahlman, Lawrence Holm and John Holm. Interment was at Steelesville Cemetery, south of Dassel.
Among survivors are one nephew, Arthur Johnson of Dassel, and four nieces, Alma and Selma Johnson of Dassel, Mrs. George Eide of Minneapolis, and Mrs. Russell Johnson of St. Paul.
She was preceded in death by her parents and three brothers.
