Notes for Swan Johnson
Obituary – Swan Johnson 1834-1915
Following an operation that was performed late last Sunday night the death of Swan Johnson occurred at the hospital in Litchfield at an early hour this morning. The operation itself was a complete success in every way and he was getting along nicely until complications set in. Acute uremia was the immediate cause of his death.
Deceased was about 82 years of age and has been a resident of this village for the past five years. Previous to that he had operated a farm in Collinwood upon which he had settled about 48 years ago. When he came here this section was a wilderness and there were but few homesteaders here before him. Mrs. Johnson died some twenty years ago.
Deceased leaves three sons and one daughter to mourn his loss. They are August and Peter A., of Collinwood, Herman S. of Litchfield and Miss Tilda at home. Deceased was one of the foremost citizens of Collinwood in his time and always took a prominent part in the public affairs of his town. He was highly respected as a citizen, neighbor and friend. The funeral will take place next Saturday afternoon in this village from the Lutheran church, Rev. Johnson of Stockholm officiating. Interment will take place in the Steelesville Cemetery. The Anchor joins with the entire community in expressing sympathy for the bereaved ones in their hour of parting.
