Jacob Ahlstrom was born in Småland, Sweden January 12, 1840. Came to America in 1882. After 3 years residence in Nicollet County, he came to Dassel to locate in the township of Collinwood, in which he has since lived.
His illness came suddenly. After 3 days of hard suffering the Angel of Death called him Home on the morning of December 10th. The end came peacefully as had been his life.
The funeral occurred from his home near Collinwood Lake Saturday, December 12th at 2 p.m., Rev. Lundgren officiating. The floral contributions were many and beautiful.
Those from a distance who attended were Mrs. A. Gustafson of St. Paul, Andrew Ahlstrom of St. Peter, and Dr. and Mrs. J. T. Ahlstrom of Cokato. His remains were laid to rest in the Sw. Lutheran Cemetery at Steelesville.
He leaves a widow, two children, two grandchildren, one brother, besides other relatives and friends to mourn his loss. His son, Gustaf Adolph is at present on a trip to Sweden, and his daughter, Mrs. A. N. Johnson is located near Cokato.
Weep not that his toils are over.
Weep not that his race is run.
God grant we may rest as sweetly,
When our life on earth is done! (contributed)
