Obituary Dassel Anchor 9-21-1911
After a lingering sickness which has confined him to his bed for over a year, Mr. August Nyberg, one of the oldest and highly esteemed settlers of Collinwood, passed peacefully away on Sunday afternoon, Sept. 10th.
The funeral which took place on Tuesday afternoon was conducted by Rev. S. V. Soderman and was attended by a large number of friends of the deceased. Services having been conducted both at the home and at church. The remains were taken to Steelesville Cemetery and there laid to rest.
Mr. Nyberg was born in Sweden, 64 years ago, and while a young man set sail for the land in the west. His first years in this country were spent at Duluth, Minn., where the lumbering industry afforded him employment. But after some time a financial depression made itself felt in that city and Mr. Nyberg decided to take up farming. He now came to Dassel and in a short time had selected the spot which became his home during the rest of his days.
In marriage Mr. Nyberg was united with Albertina Peterson with whom he has been blessed with a family of eight children all of whom are living except one.
In disposition the dead was agreeable and cheerful and succeeded everywhere in making friends. He was a member of the Swedish Lutheran church and as such was active and respected by all.
Although his death was not unexpected and although it must be looked upon as an exchanging of suffering for rest, there will still be left in that home a vacant chair. The memory of husband and father will long linger in the sacred shrine of the family hearthstone.
The Anchor wished to extend its heartfelt sympathy to the bereaved ones in this, their hour of deep affliction.
