Rites Held for Mrs. Bergquist, 88
Funeral services for Mrs. Mary Bergquist, 88, resident of the Dassel Lakeside Home were held on September 10 from the First Lutheran Church in Dassel with the Rev. Dr. Walter E. Carlson, pastor of the church, officiating. Mrs. Ted Bergquist and Mrs. Charles Meyer were soloists. Mrs. Paul Osness was the organist. A congregational hymn, “What a Friend We Have In Jesus” was sung. Pallbearers were Leslie Bergquist, Keith Bergquist, George Baldwin, Ronald Bergquist, Harold Bergquist and William Evers. Interment was in Steelesville Lutheran Cemetery.
Mary Erickson was born in Dassel on March 30, 1886, a daughter of Louis and Christina (Nelson) Erickson. On September 21, 1910, she was united in marriage to August Bergquist in Dassel. She resided in the Dassel area until moving to Cokato village 15 years ago. She lived in Cokato for eight years, and then moved to the Village of Dassel. She had been a resident of the Dassel Lakeside Home for five and a half years. She was a member of the First Lutheran Church, Dassel.
Survivors include one son, Kenneth, Dassel; two daughters, Mrs. Louise Baldwin, Litchfield, and Mrs. Harold (Evelyn) Larson, Robbinsdale; eight grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband who died in 1951; one son, Willard; one grandson; and one brother, Oscar Erickson.
