John Boo, who for some time has been living with his son, John Boo, about a mile east of town, died last Friday, and on Monday was buried in the Swedish Lutheran cemetery, south of town. Deceased was a strong, healthy man all his life up to about a week before his death. He was 77 years old, and having been a soldier in Sweden, received a pension.
 
Mr. Boo’s was married to his first wife, Karin Larsdotter, in 1844. Their family was three girls and three boys. Karin and a daughter and a son all died of dysentery in 1857. Earlier, another boy died at 1 year of age. In 1866, their eldest son, Lars Johan (John) was the first of the Boo family to emigrate to America.
 
In 1858, John married Stina Gustava Andersdotter. Together they had four daughters, Anna Mathilda, a baby girl who died in infancy, Augusta Josefina who died in infancy, and Augusta. Stina died in 1866 giving birth to daughter Augusta, but Augusta survived, and later came to America with her parents. Anna Mathilda left for America in 1880 and married Oscar Peterson.
 
In 1866, John married Hedda Jacobsdotter Wallgren. Hedda came to Bohult about the time that Stina died after giving birth to Augusta. Hedda raised Anna Mathilda and Augusta as her own, along with her own daughter Maria Christina. John, Hedda, and Augusta, now 15 years old, came to America in 1881.
 
Preceding John in death were his first two wives, and five of his ten children. Mrs. A. P. Sundell, Mrs. Oscar Peterson, and son John, of Dassel, are among the children who, with his wife, Hedda, survive him. He was laid to rest in the Boo family plot in Steelesville Cemetery. Notes from Jim Holmgren:
I am not sure.  It would be interesting to check the early household examinations when Johannes was a boy and see if he chose to change his last name.  I am not certain about "qvar"  if indeed that is the word it means remain which would fit but it also could be abbrev. for quarters if he was in the military, but I doubt it.  Maybe could figure it out if I see the original.  In any case he moved in 1841 at 17 years so he would not have been in the military.
