Obituary – Ruth Mathilda (Bollman) Peterson
Ruth Mathilda Peterson of Collinwood Township, passed away January 30, 1944, at the age of 48 years, 9 months, 8 days. Ruth was born April 23, 1895, the daughter of Swan and Anna Bertha (Hedlund) Bollman, the seventh of eight children. She grew up on her parent’s farm in Section 12 of Collinwood Township. Ruth married Herman Hilding Peterson on December 14, 1916. To this union, four children were born: Karl Vincent; Bernard Franklin; and twins, Marie Louise, and a Boy, who died in infancy. Ruth was confirmed in her Christian faith and was received into membership of Swedish Evangelical Lutheran Gethsemane Congregation of Dassel, Meeker County, Minnesota, September 7, 1919. Herman and Ruth farmed the Peterson farm, and raised their family and were active in their community and church. She was preceded in death by her parents and a son who died in infancy. Ruth is survived by her loving husband, sons Karl and Bernard, and daughter Marie (Peterson) Rick; siblings, George; Ella (Nathaniel “Tanney”) Johnson; Emma (Alpheus) Wells; Olivia; Herbert; Serena (William) Hagglund; and, Mae Myrtle (Enoch) Anderson; and many nieces, nephews and friends. Ruth Mathilda Peterson was laid to rest in the family plot in the Steelesville Cemetery. Blessed be her memory.
