Obituary – Dorine Peterson, 86, Dassel
Funeral service for Dorine C. Peterson, age 86, of Dassel was held on Friday, June 3, 2005 from the Gethsemane Lutheran Church in Dassel. Rev. Steven Olson officiated with the interment at the Steelesville Cemetery, Dassel. Special music, "How Great Thou Art" and "Peace in the Valley" was sung by soloist, Bruce Berg, her nephew; and a violin and guitar duet by her grandson Ty Peterson and son Gary Peterson. Congregational hymns were sung with Florine Osness serving as organist. Casket bearers were her sons and grandsons. Honorary Bearers were Lee Peterson, Bill Berg and Bruce Berg.
Dorine Clarice (Corkins) Peterson, the daughter of Lester and Esther (Ostlund) Corkins, was born on January 3, 1919, in Cokato, Minnesota. She was confirmed at the Kerkhoven Lutheran Church, and had been a member of the Salem Lutheran Church in St. Cloud, and was presently a member of the Gethsemane Lutheran Church in Dassel. She graduated from the Dassel High School with the class of 1937.
On April 5, 1940, Dorine was united in marriage to Karl Vincent Peterson at the Peterson Farm south of Dassel. Together they resided south of Dassel until 1947, when they moved to St. Cloud. In 1981 they returned to the Peterson home farm where they resided until they moved to Cokato in 1991. Dorine moved to the Dassel Lakeside Apartments in 1998, where she has since lived.
Dorine was a wonderful seamstress. She had made many clothes for her children, grandchildren, friends and taught others how to sew. While living in St. Cloud, she was a Buyer/Manager in the Sport Wear Department of Fandels Department Store and later an Assistant Manager at Buttrey's.
She always made everyone welcome in her home, especially her sons' friends. Dorine loved to talk with family and friends she also enjoyed her e-mail station and keeping in touch with those she loved.
Dorine is survived by her sons, Alan of Maple Grove, Douglas (Barbara) of Dassel, Gary (Patty) of Buffalo, WY; grandsons, Shane, Troy, David and Ty; sister, Helen (Harold) Berg of Florida.
Besides her husband, Karl Vincent, who died in 1996, she was preceded in death by her grandson, Kenton and her parents.
