Yvonne Morehouse, age 93, of Dassel, died Thursday, October 5, 2023, at the Lakeside Generations in Dassel. A memorial service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Friday, October 13, 2023, at the Evangelical Covenant Church in Dassel with Rev. Keith Carlson officiating at the service and interment at the Dassel Community Cemetery.
A time to gather with the family will be held one hour prior to the service at the Evangelical Covenant Church in Dassel on Friday, October 13, 2023.
The Johnson Funeral Home is in charge of the memorial arrangements.
Yvonne Morehouse, the daughter of Arthur and Violet (Tiller) Sjoquist, was born on July 22, 1930, at home on the Sjoquist farm. Yvonne was baptized and confirmed in the Christian faith and was a member of the Evangelical Covenant Church in Dassel where she had been active in the church choir, the church women’s groups, and had served on numerous committees, Yvonne attended Dassel High School and graduated in 1948.
Yvonne was united in marriage to Jim Morehouse in Milbank, South Dakota, and made their home in Dassel. Together they celebrated 47 years of marriage. Yvonne had been employed at Peterson Pharmacy for numerous years before becoming the activities director at the Lakeview Ranch memory care facility in Dassel for many years. She was also part owner of Morehouse Welding in Dassel.
Food was her language of love. She loved to serve others and enjoyed entertaining. She was a wonderful cook and would host her family for holidays and special occasions She always had a treat for when friends and family would drop by. She loved her family with her whole heart and was crazy about her grandchildren and great grandchildren.
She is survived by her husband, Jim Morehouse of Dassel, children, Lynn (Patrick) Noack of Eden Prairie, Lee Peterson of Darwin, Shari (Steve) Kuehl of Hutchinson, and Mike Morehouse of Hutchinson, eleven grandchildren, fifteen great grandchildren, and a nephew, Larry (Mari) Sjoquist of Dassel.
She was preceded in death by her parents, and a brother, Richard Sjoquist.
