Obituary – Carolina Jönsdotter Peterson 1840-1924
The remains of Mrs. Carolina Peterson were brought here Tuesday from Elmore, MN, and the funeral service was held at the Lutheran church Tuesday at 2:00 p.m., Rev. J. I. Bergstrand officiating.
Mrs. Peterson died at the home of her daughter, Mrs. F. A. McMillan, Jan. 11, 1924. She was born in Sweden and was 83 years, five months and six days old.
She was one of the sturdy pioneer women of this vicinity, and lived on a farm in Collinwood town until about ten years ago, when she went to reside with her daughter, Mrs. McMillan in St. Paul.
Mrs. Peterson was the last charter member of the Gethsemane Lutheran church. She labored long and faithfully to help build up the church in this community and to her and her co-workers belong a large share of the credit of putting the religious life of the community on a firm foundation.
The services were largely attended by old friends and neighbors and interment was at the Steelesville Cemetery.
Two children survive, Mrs. McMillan of Elmore, Minn. And J. S. Peterson of Willmar. The latter and his family were here to attend the funeral services.
